About :: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
On one of the last days of 1999 Brian Knight picked up his first digital camera at a local Wal-mart. The camera was fairly large, very slow, and used floppy disks for film, but he was hooked. One of the biggest keys to his success has come from working with Will Ramos Photography. Will has helped hone Brian's skills both behind the viewfinder as well as afterwards in the (digital) dark room. Together they have covered numerous adventure sport races (and weddings). Covering races requires a photographer to think quickly on his feet, to adapt to changing light and angles, and to be comfortable sitting in the hot sun, the pouring rain, or tied to a rock face hundreds of feet in the air. Covering weddings is a lot like covering races, only you wear different clothes! Each event presents similar challenges, especially when attempting a more subtle, less in your face, photojournalistic approach. In addition to races, Brian has stepped into the local DC art scene by covering show openings and special events. The unguarded moments captured at these events as well as his unique view of the paintings themselves has earned Brian critical praise. It is possible to run into Brian without a camera. He is an avid kayaker, enjoys hiking and mountain biking and spends much too much money expanding his own private library. Brian's photos have been seen in several shows and in numerous publications and websites including The Washington Post, Shape, Yahoo! News, Backpacker, Metro Sports DC, and DCist.com. Credits
